The year of the Open Door. Yes, this is the year of the Open Door according to the Jewish Calendar, 5784. Back in September 2023, the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, began, which is a time of personal reflection. So, what does that have to do with us?
We, too, Gentile, non-Jewish folks, come into a time of reflection in January as we start our new year.
As we Explore More in 2024, let’s look at the importance of open doors. Here’s one of my favorite scriptures alluding to open doors.
“These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.” Revelation 3: 7
What questions can we ask in our time of reflection?
- What door do you want me to explore this year, and for me to walk through?
- What do you want me to open my eyes, ears, and heart to, this year?
I encourage you to seek the Lord about where He would have you go or what He would have you be a part of this year.
What fresh vision can you see or desire to implement this year in your work or ministry?
After you explore, set forth in that direction, then walk confidently through that new opportunity holding on to this promise:
“There is a wide-open door for a great work here, although many oppose me.” 1 Corinthians 16: 9
Yes, we say open doors of opportunities are coming! However, with great opportunity comes great opposition.
I’m not trying to be a “Debbie-downer,” but just making us aware that when God calls us to a great work, full of opportunity, there is usually warfare and resistance that comes alongside.
Why is that? The enemy does not want God’s work to advance.
That’s why it’s important to apply “resistance training,” to your daily spiritual workouts, just like athletes do.
Facing resistance will train us to build strength and character as we press ahead.
Pressing ahead is what we are called to do, especially this year.
As the door(s) of opportunity open for you this year, walk through and remember that Jesus not only holds the key, but He is the door and walks with you through and through.
“For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” 2 Corinthians 6: 16
