Don’t you love some of the pictures we see of Jesus? We don’t know what he looked like; but no matter what His physical appearance is, He’s beautiful and handsome to me.
As we see Jesus as our Mediator, let’s look at what this word means. A mediator is: One who attempts to make people involved in a conflict come to an agreement; a go-between. Jesus is not mediating for us between people, He is the mediator between God and man.
We are told, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2: 5 Yes, He is fully God and fully man; the only one who can serve as Mediator.
Jesus knows us like no one else. He is ready to stand before the Father and mediate on your behalf, to connect you to God.
Here’s what His mediation accomplished for us as His followers: “You are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are His holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ…” 1 Peter 2: 5
His mediation not only connects us to God but transforms us like Himself, now calling us living stones. He calls us a holy, royal, priesthood, a holy nation, chosen and called.
Folks, we are God’s very own possession.
“As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2: 9
This is a high calling, for we are now able to be the go-between, the one who introduces Jesus to the lost all for the Father’s glory.
We are His ambassadors, His representatives here on this earth. We can mediate by interceding, praying for those who do not know and cannot see that Jesus is the only way to Father God.
