As we begin Proverbs 24, we are instructed with the very first verse about not desiring the company of evil men. The verse even shows the condition of their hearts and what their motives are.
Here’s what it says: “Do not envy evil men, do not desire their company; for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about making trouble.” Proverbs 24: 1
As we grow up in the things of God, there are just some things that we must purge from our lives. Yep, even people purging becomes part of our spiritual growth.
If you’re listening to someone who is plotting to make trouble, stand clear, you might be their next victim.
Learn to build your life with wisdom and understanding and things will be established. “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established. Proverbs 24: 3a
Listen to the rest of the verse and watch how treasures are released. “…Through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” Proverbs 24: 3b
All of this occurs when we start and build with wisdom. Wisdom opens up doors, even rooms.
We are told that “A wise man has great power…” Proverbs 24: 5a
However, the power mentioned here is not the kind of power we think. The power that is given are spiritual weapons that “have divine power to demolish strongholds.” These weapons are the power of prayer.
If we “Falter in times in times of trouble, how small is our strength?” Proverbs 24: 10
The strength that will sustain us in troubled times is spiritual strength, not physical strength.
Be wise and exercise your weapons through the power of prayer.
Attaining wisdom not only makes us strong as we learn to pray, but it also “Is sweet to our soul; if we find it, there is a future for us, and our hope will not be cut off.” Proverbs 24: 14
What stones are we building within our lives?
Are they stones of faith, love, hope, glory, and truth? Using these types of stones to build our lives is being a wise man or woman of God.
As we grow, we learn, “To show partiality in judging is not good…” Proverbs 24: 23, Honesty is the best policy. Why? “An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.” Proverbs 24: 26 How? It’s Sweet to the soul.
