KINGDOM ASSURANCE: Proverbs 20: 1-18

Our actions speak much louder than our words.

Posted on

Sometimes we just need one another!  If you see someone who is hurting, take the hand of one another and offer to pray for them, offer to listen.  We don’t need counseling degrees to be a friend to someone who is hurting.

When we bring understanding (discernment) into a person’s life, we allow that person to release what is inside.

“The purposes (motives) of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.”  Proverbs 20: 5

One commentary explained it this way: “The metaphor is of a well whose waters are far beneath the surface of the ground so that one must use a bucket with a long rope to draw water to the surface. Thus, a person’s real motives are ‘deep’ in that they are difficult to extract; one must be wary of the pretenses of others.” (Garrett)

Mankind desires unfailing love.  We all need to be understood and loved that’s how God created us.

Some men proclaim their own goodness that they see from their own eyes; but a faithful man doesn’t need or want to proclaim his own goodness.

Being faithful is better!

“Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, but who can find a faithful man?”  Proverbs 20: 6

God rewards faithfulness.

We need to recognize this:  “Who can say, I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin?”  Proverbs 20: 9

The forgiveness we have been given by Jesus models our lives to bring forgiveness to others who have wronged us.

The reality is that no one is without sin–but those who have been forgiven have “clean hands and a pure heart.”

“Even a child is known by his own actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.”  Proverbs 20: 11

Our actions speak much louder than our words.

“Ears that hear and eyes that see–the Lord has made them both.”  Proverbs 20: 12

We are all discovering that walking in wisdom is of the highest value.

“Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.”  Proverbs 20: 15

Be that rare jewel in someone’s life today, and speak life, wisdom, and healing in Jesus’ name over them.

If today you are in need of counsel, “Make plans by seeking advice; if you wage war, obtain guidance.”  Proverbs 20: 18
