KINGDOM ASSURANCE: Honest is the Best Policy

What you give your attention to, you give, not only life to, but power also, good or bad.

I was reading Revelation 22: 15, and this passage caught my eye.  It reflects what is happening in the world today.  Scripture reads, “Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.”  (This word translates into lies/deception.  The modern word for lie and deception is “gas light.”)

I wanted to understand more about this verse, so I read the explanation from the N.I.V. Bible.  The explanation is as follows:

Jesus will exclude from the “holy city” everyone who loves and practices falsehood.  These are people whose lives have gone so wrong that they resemble Satan, who deceived the whole world. They are hypocrites, trying to live one way while pretending to believe another.  They are like the Nicolaitans’, who were among the believers but compromised their faith, in order to also include worship to the Roman Emperor, instead of God alone.  John records Jesus’ statement that Satan is the father of lies, in John 8: 44.

Today, we see leaders who twist the truth to serve their own (selfish and deceptive) purposes.  Many people have lost the ability to distinguish what’s true from what they wish was true.

Dishonest people soon begin to believe the lies they construct around themselves.

Then they lose the ability to tell the difference between truth and lies.  By believing your own lies, you deceive yourself; you alienate yourself from God, and you lose credibility in all your relationships.

In the long run, honesty wins out.

Stay close to God, in all ways, and He will stay close to you.

What you give your attention to, you give, not only life to, but power also, good or bad.

I am not a person of fads, but one fad that I wish would still be here is the wearing of the W.W. J. D. bracelet, which stands for “What would Jesus do?” When a situation in life comes up, we would look down at our bracelet and read the initials, W.W.J.D. and ask, “What would Jesus do?”  We should emulate him for He is the epitome of honesty, truth, and so much more!
