Do we realize that our union with the Lord assures what we produce?
Look at this verse: “So now, beloved ones, stand firm, stable, and enduring. Live your lives with unshakable confidence. We know that we prosper and excel in every season by serving the Lord because we are assured that our union with the Lord makes our labor productive with fruit that endures. (1 Corinthians 15: 58)
The fruit of our labor is not in vain.
We need to know that we prosper and excel in every season. In the natural He has given us four seasons–summer, fall, winter, and spring. Each season produces in its set time and in its own way!
Seasons have an enormous impact on growth!
If our labor is for God, it is not for nothing. I love what the Amplified version says, “My beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].” (1 Corinthians 15: 58)
All that you do for Kingdom work is never without purpose.
Even if no one else sees, God does!
Even if no one else acknowledges you, God does!
Even if no one rewards you, God will!
Some have been laboring, even to the point of exhaustion, and you’ve cried out saying, “I can’t do this anymore.”
Hear God’s heart: He shall not waste anything you have done, nor whatever else you will do for Him.
Paul is exhorting the church by saying, “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”
Every season of our life will be fruitful and proven to be profitable, not because of what we have done, but because of what He has done. Our union with Him always produces. How? God produced mankind to produce for Him.
Remember this covenant promise way back in the Old Testament, “Be assured that I will send my blessing for you in the sixth year, so the land will produce…” (Leviticus 25: 21)
One commentary said this: “If Israel trusted God to provide as He promised in the sixth year – to provide enough for three years in the sixth year – God promised to command a blessing upon them. The promise was so sure that God said He would command it.”
What God commands happens.
He has promised and commanded blessings on the fruit of your labor. “God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it.” (Genesis 1: 28) This was the original command spoken forth, not just to Adam, but to us, as His children.
So know that you are prospering and excelling in every season. The winter season, the one that looks less likely to produce, is awaiting the springtime to come. God has a set time for everything, every stage of growth. There’s always a time to water and a time to plant. “For everything there is a season and a time for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3: 1)
Your fruitfulness has been promised and is under the umbrella of every activity under heaven.
