Can you imagine what a day it will be when we see Jesus face to face? I can only imagine!
I learned that the phrase King of kings is used six times in scripture. The phrase Lord of lords is used by itself twice and refers to God the Father. However, in Revelation, Jesus is given the full title King of kings and Lord of lords. This title indicates complete power and full dominion over all His realm.
One commentary explained it this way:
“When Jesus is called “King of kings and Lord of lords,” it means that, in the end, all other rulers will be conquered or abolished; and He alone will reign supreme as King and Lord of all the earth. There is no power, no king, and no lord who can oppose Him and win.”
Notice the capitalized and small letters for King and king, and for Lord and lord. He is over and far above all earthly kings and lords!
Have we given Him full permission to rule over our lives by His Kingly authority? He wants to have full access into our hearts, to be not only Savior but be King and Lord.
If we surrender to Him, in this way, His divine rule and guidance become one with every decision that we make. These phrases were designed to be together, and not to be separated, and for His followers to be known as Ambassadors for Jesus.
Jesus is King and Lord, supreme in power, rule, and authority.
We have this promise: “At just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only Almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords.” 1 Timothy 6: 15
