HOW CAN YOU BE SURE?
The Bible tells us that there is one Spirit. And that Christians are called to live in peace and unity with one another. With a common faith and mission.
So, does everyone have the Holy Spirit?
Many seem to think they do.
There’s a lot of talk among “Professing Christians” about being saved. Many throw this term around like it’s a done deal. That they have the Holy Spirit.
But the reality of the Christian life, especially here in America, tells a very different story.
You see, many Christians differ on many things:
Some say that abortion is okay. Others not.
Others say that their denomination is the only right one and the others are false.
Some believe what the Bible teaches. Others don’t.
Still others say that God created some people only to destroy them in the eternal judgment of hell and others were “chosen” before the beginning of time to be the only ones who are saved. Others say that God loves all people and doesn’t want anyone to perish.
You need to do some soul-searching to be sure that you understand:
WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON?
The Bible is the source of common revelation from God to mankind. We can all read the testimony of prophets, apostles, first-century Christians, and, of course, the most important One, Jesus himself. So don’t be quick to neglect what has been written, approved by Jesus because he regularly quoted what was written.
Don’t assume that many books written by famous pastors, some of which are thicker than the entire bible and cover only a limited portion of God’s word are correct.
DON’T BE DECEIVED.
Even after reading these extra-biblical books, a Christian MUST be reading the Bible to see if what’s been said in the book is true as his mind has already been influenced by the opinions and interpretations of others.
I pray that those who are not sure if they have the Holy Spirit will ask the Father to make this clear to them.
CONCERNING JESUS:
Ephesians 2:18 NIV
“For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
Ephesians 4:4 NIV
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;”
Whether you have the Holy Spirit or not is not an insignificant issue.
Wrestle with God in prayer and be certain that you know where you stand:
Luke 11:11-13 NIV
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
AND THEN:
LET’S GET BACK TO READING THE BIBLE, THE SOURCE OF ALL REVEALED TRUTH, AND PRAY IN THE SPIRIT FOR GUIDANCE.
