Honoring the Spirit of Brotherhood

Watch how the nations conduct their business with each other and how they treat the Church in those nations.

Not all nations follow the Lord. Until those nations align with the Lord, even in their unredeemed state, they can still extend honor to other nations that have chosen to follow the Lord. This applies to all nations regarding the Great Commission the Lord spoke over the Church: “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28: 18-19). Making disciples of all nations is a process that is empowered by the Lord’s authority expressed through His Church.

As the leaders of nations begin to align their populations under the influence of the Spirit, the agreements put in place with other nations will create a peaceful arrangement. To violate those agreements is something taken seriously by the Lord.

When the prophet Amos spoke of what Tyre did against Israel, they had taken part in a rebellion against the Lord and His people. Amos wrote, “They broke their treaty of brotherhood with Israel, selling whole villages as slaves to Edom. (Amos 1:9). The Lord would punish Tyre as a consequence of their sin because they broke their agreements with Israel. While not all nations are fully under the influence of God’s truth, they can still get along with God’s people while they await their day of redemption.

Watch how the nations conduct their business with each other and how they treat the Church in those nations. This applies to nations that had previously followed the Lord but have strayed away from His principles. Just as natural brothers may not agree on all aspects of life, they can still get along and treat each other as brothers.

To violate the intent of those relationships will not go unnoticed by the Lord. The nations in violation of an agreement of shared brotherhood will open their borders to chaos and confusion until those nations become or return to the Lord as His disciples. As we process the pain of what we see happening in the nations, we should never forget that no nation is beyond the reach of God’s redeeming hand no matter how far astray they have wandered away from His truth.
