What does “He remains” mean? He endures forever. He is more enduring than what He has made–the first creation shall give way to a new creation.
“In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain, they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end. The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you.” (Psalm 102: 26-28)
Let’s think about that! Everything may change, but our God will not. Circumstances may get different, but our God will not be different. People may disappoint us, but our God will not. Why? He remains!
New Heavens And A New Earth
Our world is changing, but our God will not! He says, “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” (Isaiah 65: 17)
Here’s what He promises, “As the new heavens and the new earth that I will make endure before Me, declares the Lord, so will your name and descendants endure.” (Isaiah 66: 22)
If He remains forever, so will we, as He is our life, our Savior and Redeemer.
He Hears Our Cries
“You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come.” (Psalm 102: 13)
- God has an appointed time for everything.
- As His children, if He remains, we remain.
Jesus has said, “Remain in Me, and I will remain in you.” (John 15: 4)
Our union and fellowship, our oneness with Jesus, causes us to remain in Him. Notice that it’s not remain with Him, it’s remain in Him, as One. As a believer, we are secure when things fall down around us.

Agreement Of The People
It’s always much better when people are in agreement. In our reading in Nehemiah, after confession when they all gathered together, they “Made a binding agreement putting it in writing, and our leaders, our Levites and our priests are affixing their seals to it.” (Nehemiah 9: 38)
This official seal contained a roster of eighty-four names. In this written agreement they must assume responsibility of carrying out the commands and promising to give as required. They made a promise that “We will not neglect the house of our God.” (Nehemiah 9: 39)
A seal is a very important thing! It denotes that we are sealed and protected and made secure. To keep our food fresh we seal it.
I was curious, so I looked up the word seal and it said: “Used to join two things together, so as to prevent them from coming apart or to prevent anything from passing between them.”
- Jesus doesn’t want anything or anyone to come between us, between our relationship with Him.
- We are sealed in Christ. We are in a covenant, a binding agreement with the Lord.
“God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: The Lord knows those who are His.” (2 Timothy 2: 19)
His love for us is, “Like a seal over our heart.” (S.O.S. 8: 6)
We are His! Remain In Him; remain in His love. “Now these three remain--faith, hope and love. The greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13: 13)
