You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; (Psalm 23:5).
I often hear this beautiful verse used as a weapon. A payback for all who have hurt you.
And then we stop there.
But that’s not it beloved.
That’s not it. Keep reading….
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows, 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
We too were once enemies of God.
God doesn’t set a table before our enemies so that we can gloat. He doesn’t want them to pay for what they have done.
He wants them to receive what He already has.
People are not the enemy.
He sets a table so we can invite people to sit down.
Share the gospel.
Break bread.
And forgive.
Let’s go back to Psalm 23….
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows, 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
And now….
Matthew 5:43-45:
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.
Pray for them beloved.
Pray they take a seat at the Lord’s table.
And like Jesus, be rich in goodness and mercy.
Revelation 22:17
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.
And let the enemy watch.
Love is our greatest weapon.
