Exploring Those Important Questions

God is not only getting us ready, but He is also getting something ready for us.

As we begin to wind down in our series, Explore More In 2024, I want to look at the questions that we asked in our very first post.  Why?

Looking back can serve to plunge us forward, but don’t get stuck there.

After looking back, I noticed some verbs (action words) that we can focus on and trust the Lord to expand what He wants us to learn.

The first question was this:

Are we yearning to see Him move in people’s lives?

The verb yearning is highlighted which took me to this familiar scripture, “My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.”  Psalm 84; 2

The word yearning is defined in the English language, to have an intense feeling or longing for something, typically that one has lost or has been separated from.

The Psalmist is yearning for the house of the Lord remembering how lovely His dwelling place is.  The author of this Psalm, presumably a Levite, is now barred from access to God’s house, the temple, the place where he served and worshipped the living God.

The footnote in my Bible explained that this Levite was most likely held in captivity when the king of Assyria, Sennacherib, attacked Judah and the open villages.  The number of people taken captive was 200,146 people.  This Levite was, more than likely, of those taken and held captive.

So, his yearning, his longing, to be back in the house of the Lord was deep within his spirit.

What are you yearning for?

If you are yearning to see God move in people’s lives, then how should we position ourselves to see that happen?

Let’s learn this equation:  Being heavenly minded=earthly amazing. (Bob Hazlett)

What does that mean? Simply, think like heaven and those kinds of thoughts will be amazing here on the earthly realm.

We have to change our thinking before we change our world.

When we change our thinking and live from the next level, we position ourselves to be “...Seated with Him in heavenly places.”  Ephesians 2: 6

How can we live on the level of being seated with Him?
  • Learn to dream with God.
  • Revisit those dreams that seemed impossible that you laid down.
  • Don’t think and live too practically; for it can be a form of self-doubt.

Believe that God has already opened up the next level to us.

God is not only getting us ready, but He is also getting something ready for us.

“…His bride has made herself ready.  Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” Revelation 19: 7-8

Part of our preparation is to:

  • Learn to align yourself with God’s promises and Kingdom truths.
  • Develop an eternal mindset and an understanding of our spiritual position in Christ.

Here’s the eternal mindset:

“...You have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”  Colossians 3: 13

Thinking like heaven is knowing where we are, but also being very aware of what we already have.

In other words, think from the position we already hold.

You are a shareholder in the Kingdom of God!   Being a shareholder comes with certain rights and responsibilities.

As Christ-followers, we have certain rights to access heavenly things with the responsibility to carry out those things from heaven to earth.  (Sela)

Our job is to be made aware of all that’s been deposited and allow God to shine and share what He’s given.

The yearning you feel to see God move in people’s lives is a God-given hunger to share and shine for Him.

“Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied.”  Matthew 5: 6

Give attention to that hunger and you will be full.
