Are we satisfied where we are in our walk with God?
- Are we yearning to see Him move in people’s lives?
- Are we longing for others to come together in one accord in unity and in the power of the Holy Spirit?
- Are we desiring to see folks understand the love of Jesus and His plan and purpose for their lives?
- Are we pursuing the Lord for answered prayers even through weariness?
Let’s not rush past these questions. As we answer each one individually, it may help us clearly identify what we are desiring and what God is longing for in our lives as we are fulfilled.
If you are longing for more of God in your life, then you will benefit from positioning yourself by asking these questions.
As we begin a new year and ask for more in 2024, I believe God will meet us in that place of asking. Hey, God says, “Ask and you shall receive.” Matthew 7: 7
Since Biblical numbers have special meaning, is it random that the number 7 is the chapter and verse listed? Nope! There is no random with our God. I’ve said this more than once in previous writings.
The number 7 in Hebrew means completion, spiritual perfection, and fulfillment of promises.
If we feel unfulfilled, maybe God is wanting us to know that if we want to be fulfilled and feel complete, we only will achieve this as we align our lives with God’s plan and His will.
We’ve tried things on our own then we ask, “How did that go?” If current, we can ask, “How’s that working for you?”
God specifically positioned this number 7 before us, because He wants the “more” in our lives, “more” than we do!
If God is desiring us to ask, do we ask only once and forget about it? Once again, the answer is, nope!
To expand our understanding let’s look at different translations of this scripture. Here’s what I found why God does not want us only asking once:
- “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7: 7, NLT
In another version, it says this:
- “Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7: 7, Amp
The footnote on this amplified version said, “Here the use of Greek present imperatives (asking, seeking, knocking) emphasizes persistent, constant prayer.”
As we close, scroll back up to the top of this post and ask yourself those questions to evaluate where you are with God. Our answers will determine where we are going and how we can get there.
Our persistent and constant pursuit is what God is asking for, as we explore more. Keep, keeping on!
