Everything Comes From Him

God calls us to the fire and brings us through the fire.

Do we fully understand that everything we have comes from the hand of God?  Once we get this in our hearts, it’s easier to give away what God has given.

King David is toward the end of his life and he is thanking the Lord for all of those who have contributed so generously to the building of the temple. “The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord.” (1 Chronicles 27: 9)

  • The Lord sees devotion beyond what others can see.

In his prayer David asks, “Who am I and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this?  Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”  (1 Chronicles 29: 14)

All of what we have belongs to God.  He has given us the ability to earn an income.  He has given us skills, gifts, and talents, to use, as we earn.  He has provided all we have and all that we do!

David, in his prayer, is grateful for the people and their faithfulness.  He says, “I know, my God, that you test the hearts and are pleased with integrity.  I have seen with joy how willing your people…have given to you.”  (1 Chronicles 29: 17)

Then he says, “O, Lord, God of our Fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Israel (Jacob), keep this desire in their hearts of your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to you.”  (1 Chronicles 29: 18)

  • Intercessor’s prayers are for the hearts of the people.

Now David prays for his son, “Give my son, Solomon, the wholehearted devotion to keep your commands, requirements, and decrees and to do everything to build the palatial structure for which I have provided.”  (1 Chronicles 29: 19)

  •  Pray for wholehearted devotion that our children will build a spiritual structure in their lives that the Father has provided. (Shared from 1 Chronicles 29: 19, Modified)

Zechariah made some decrees about wholehearted devotion.  He says, “They will call on My name and I will answer them; I will say they are My people, and they will say, “The Lord is our God!”  (Zechariah 13: 9)

  • Being refined brings us forth as gold.
  • God calls us to the fire and brings us through the fire.
  • Wholehearted devotion to God must be a life free from idols.  (Shared from Zechariah 13, Modified)

Serving wholeheartedly will lead us to understand that everything comes from the Lord.  Jesus was still calling folks to Himself saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, Streams of living water will flow from within him.”  (John 7: 37)

  • When we take a stand to follow wholeheartedly, everything changes.  Some may even disagree with what we believe.  “The people were divided because of Jesus.”  (John 7: 43)
  • Keep seeking the Lord and stay united, not divided.  (Shared from John 7: 25-52, Modified)
