Displacing Corporate Religion

Apostolic leadership expands God’s Kingdom under the direction of the Spirit.

Posted on

The apostolic must take precedence over a corporate decision-making process because the corporate spirit will always attempt to reduce the apostolic to a place of managerial submission. This is not just true in matters of business that are conducted in a corporate boardroom; it is essential as it applies to religious corporations from the smallest incorporated local church to large multi-national denominations.

Apostolic leadership expands God’s Kingdom under the direction of the Spirit. Corporate leadership manages and protects assets under the rules set forth by the State. It is not impossible to run a religious corporation with an apostolic structure, but in the future, it will present unique challenges. When government oversight takes a dark turn requiring religious organizations to adhere to regulatory demands that contradict biblical truth, choices will have to be made. Those choices will determine the future of those institutions.

At some point in the future religious corporations may need to abandon their corporate structures because of unrighteous governmental demands that must be complied with in order to continue receiving government approval of their corporate status. On that day, the mettle of our faith will be tested. Apostolic leadership will be required to take the helm when that happens if a group does not want to devolve into a State-run church. These apostolic leaders will displace the corporate managers whose method of operation was to first confer with their attorneys before they inquired of the Lord.

Don’t fear that day. It may be what we need to move into the future with greater simplicity and clarity of purpose.
