Flowers need care and maintenance, just like we do. Here are the instructions and tips listed on a plant that was given to me, about this care:
- Check daily.
- Water when soil is dry.
- Soak thoroughly.
- Keep looking fresh by removing damaged leaves or spent blooms.
- Turn plants weekly for uniform growth and bloom.
Spiritually, are we checking ourselves daily for dryness? Are we watering the soil of our hearts with God’s Word and worship? Are we positioning ourselves thoroughly, to receive from the Living Water? Do we rush through life without keeping ourselves fresh? This takes time and discipline. Care is necessary for us to bloom and blossom.
When our spirits seem damaged or our “blooms are spent,” (I like this phrase) are we taking the time to heal and the steps needed for repair? Are we planting ourselves for growth?
As we prepare for the summer months, take care of yourself and maintain a good healthy growth cycle. A good maintenance plan is not just for a season but is for a lifestyle. Whatever changes need to be made, make them. This will produce a crop that is full of life and a thriving blossom. The word “thriving” is defined as flourishing and prospering. When we maintain our souls and they are in good health, all else accompanies it!
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 1: 2)
