So the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon; and he blew a trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called together to follow him. Judges 6:34
The Lord stopped me here.
He said, “There’s more.”
Gideon (Hebrew: גדעון) translates to “Great Warrior”.
If you know the story of Gideon you also know he was anything but. Gideon was found hiding in a wine press.
But there is more….
According to the Hebrew Bible, the Abiezrites were one of the ten clans identified as belonging to the tribe of Manasseh. The Abiezrites traced their lineage through Abiezer, the son of Gilead. Joash and Gideon were members of this clan: Gideon describes the Abiezrites, as “the weakest in the tribe of Manasseh”.
The weakest.
The broken.
The hurting.
The afflicted.
The tired.
The spirituality exhausted.
But there is more….
The LITERAL Hebrew translation of this verse reads….
So the Spirit of the LORD PUT ON Gideon; and he blew a trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called together to follow him.
Judges 6:34
Holy Spirit put on Gideon.
Like a hand inside a glove.
Holy Spirit blew that trumpet through Gideon.
And the weak, the broken, the hurting, the afflicted, and the spiritually exhausted followed Him.
They followed Holy Spirit.
This verse didn’t just speak to me.
That would be an understatement.
This verse took over the room.
It was in surround sound.
It was booming.
You see….
I spent 2023 in the wine press.
Hiding from people, and hiding from God.
There are many reasons, but that is between me and Abba. We are working that out.
But just like Gideon….
He calls me MIGHTY WARRIOR.
Not because of who I am.
But because of who He is in me.
And just like Gideon, I can’t do this in my own strength. I have had days I didn’t want to lift my hands to wash my hair, let alone blow the trumpet of Victory.
When I can’t, He can.
So to the wounded warriors…
It’s time to come out of the Wine Press.
But unlike Gideon, Holy Spirit is IN US.
WE CAN WEAR HIM LIKE A GLOVE
In that – IN HIM – there will be healing.
The Lord is never doing just one thing.
He is doing millions of things, simultaneously.
Step out and let Holy Spirit do in you and through you – what you can not.
The weak, the wounded, the frail, the broken, and the spiritually dead will rise when they hear the sound of VICTORY.
And the one rising can also be YOU, the wounded one blowing the horn.
