Look at the abundance of fruit! That’s what God is going to produce in us.
The next time you go grocery shopping and are in the “produce department,” remember God’s desire to produce through us. It’s all in the accent or what’s being emphasized, isn’t it? Pun intended!
As I received God’s encouragement about Begin Again, in my previous post, I kept seeing the new fruit He will be producing through us.
What is that new fruit going to produce and look like?
I believe I heard this after I asked that question:
The new fruit will be the release of God’s power through us as we go out into the world.
Here’s a scripture to document that, “Indeed, just as in the whole world, the gospel is constantly bearing fruit and spreading [by God’s power], just as it has been doing among you ever since the day you first heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth [becoming thoroughly and deeply acquainted with it]. Colossians 1: 6, AMP
It’s sharing the gospel that will spread as God’s power is displayed.
God is taking us back to the beginning to remind us of man’s call and purpose upon the earth, “To go and tell and make disciples.” The Great Commission is and always will be: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Does that mean that we are all missionaries as followers of Jesus?
One commentary said it this way: “Part of the Great Commission is this as well: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The Great Commission is enabled by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are to be Christ’s witnesses, fulfilling the Great Commission in our cities (Jerusalem), in our states and countries (Judea and Samaria), and anywhere else God sends us (to the ends of the earth).”
If we read on further in Colossians, we are shown how to be fruit bearers in the power of the Holy Spirit. “Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord [displaying admirable character, moral courage, and personal integrity], to [fully] please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing in the knowledge of God [with deeper faith, clearer insight and fervent love for His precepts]’ Colossians 1: 10, AMP
How do we get there?
We have to position ourselves to grow in God and to fully please Him in all things.
If we do this, we will bear fruit as the power of the Holy Spirit produces in our lives.
Making a choice to be positioned properly with deeper faith, clearer insight, and fervent love all comes from the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Being baptized in the Holy Spirit will enable us to be fully surrendered and fully committed to the Great Commission as we step out in power and strength, bearing fruit in every good work.
As we bear good fruit and overcome every obstacle, many will taste and see that the Lord is good.
It’s time to grab from the right tree, the Tree of Life, that is good and profitable for life. “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelation 3: 21, NKJ
Jesus told us: “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so, you will be My disciples.” John 15: 8
Don’t forget; we have seed inside of us that’s longing to grow, to be planted and watered.
Once that seed begins to sprout, the Holy Spirit’s job is to nurture that seed. That fruit delights in blessing others and staying strong as it abides in the vine. That vine is Jesus that we are to cling to.
Look again at the fruit pictured above. Who wouldn’t want to taste it? It’s pleasing to the eye. The colors alone are tempting.
As Christians, our lives can be colorful. Colors in the Bible can reveal rich Biblical truths about God and mankind. God often weaves colors throughout scripture to give us a bigger picture of things.
One bigger picture of things is to know that God is good, and those who trust in Him will lack nothing good. That’s why the Psalmist said, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.” Psalm 34: 8
