Begin Again – The Fruit of Goodness

God always has our best interest at the center of His heart.

As I was beginning this post, starting to focus on the Fruit of Goodness, the song God Is So Good came up on my playlist spontaneously. My favorite instrumental artist started playing as I am compiling an article on the fruit of goodness.  How good is that?

Oh, the timing of things that God orchestrates!  I could reason this special moment out of my heart and mind by saying, “It’s just coincidental,” but I know that would be a lie.  I’m not being talked out of this one!  I know when God’s goodness is being released.  Here comes the song again as I type!

Yes, my friends, the Holy Spirit of God is so good.  God is so good to us.  Just look around and see what He has created.  Even if we are in a dry or difficult season, confess that God is still good.  Confession is good for our soul!

I’ve had people say to me, “How can you still say God is good in difficult times?”  His character is good all the time.  Saying that God is good does not indicate that all circumstances are good.  However, He works things out for good.  Here’s that favorite scripture we often quote, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.”  Romans 8: 28

As a Jesus follower, we are called to Him and for His purpose.   Everything we do is for Him and for His glory.

The longer I serve Him, the more I understand that His goodness will follow me in this life, everywhere I go.

This statement goes along with the Romans 8: 28 scripture that I listed above.  It’s just another way of saying it.  God always has our best interest at the center of His heart.

If we need something to secure what we believe, hold on to these promises:

  • Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”  Psalm 23: 6
  • “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27: 13

What can we take away from this?

  1. God’s goodness is a sure thing.
  2. Remain confident that we will see God’s goodness in this life.
  3. We carry His fruit of goodness within released by the Holy Spirit.

We may ask, “How can this be?”  Here’s why:   “For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness…:  Ephesians 5: 9

End of story, folks!  This verse is profound, so let’s say it again, out loud.

The fruit of the light consists in all goodness.

God cannot be anything but good to us and through us.

Let that settle and resonate deep within.
