Being falsely accused and insulted because of who we are in Jesus is not an easy thing to endure. Our response is very important. Jesus tells us we are blessed when insulted and falsely accused.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.” Matthew 5: 11
Jesus did not retaliate nor fight back when He was verbally attacked or falsely accused.
If we are to grow in this area, we must remember that the one who is attacking is being influenced by evil spirits.
The enemy loves to use those we love to verbally attack and falsely accuse. He loves to destroy relationships; that’s his specialty. He loves to bring confusion and twist things. He is a master at twisting things and even uses half-truths to bring that confusion.
How, then, can we respond in the correct way?
God, through the prophet Isaiah, released this saying, “Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults.” Isaiah 51: 7
Have you ever been around someone who was not fond of you, and you didn’t know why? Well, it may not have been you that they didn’t like, but the One who is in you. The Holy Spirit resides in us as a Christ follower, and some folks have spirits residing in them that are not Christ followers.
Yes, there are evil spirits in the world that can influence an unbeliever or even possess them.
That uncomfortableness that we might sense is when the Light in you is clashing with the darkness in that person. Don’t forget there’s a reason why God separated the light from the darkness in the early days of creating things.
He’s created the Light for us to walk in. His Light shines in the darkness.
The Holiness of God’s presence within a disciple can rattle an unclean spirit just by that disciple walking into a room.
If folks are being rattled around you without you even opening up your mouth, it could be the Jesus in you that makes them manifest or lash out without any reason. Remember, the anointing destroys yokes. The presence and glory of God are powerful.
As a glory carrier, you are shining more brightly than you can imagine. His Light is shining around you. There is a circumference, a circle, a parameter around you that hems you in.
The world hates God’s disciples. We’ve been “Chosen out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15: 19
Jesus already told us, “If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.” John 15: 20
If you are being punished unjustly, the Lord sees, He knows, and He hears. His rule and reign are over your life and the blood covering upon you is your protection. The blood never loses its power.
If they are laughing at you at work or in any other circle, remember the circle that is around you and let God fight your battle. You stand and let Him be your defender.
Let this promise help you to stand in confidence: “The Lord is my defense; and my God is the rock of my refuge.” Psalm 94: 22
