Have you ever spoken with someone and they were not completely sure of their salvation? At one time they were on fire for the Lord; they heard the Good News of the gospel and then fell away.
The apostle Paul addresses this issue to the church in Colossae. He tells them, “You must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.” (Colossians 1: 23)
What’s the truth that Paul doesn’t want the Colossians to drift away from?
The truth is “Jesus has reconciled us (believers) to Himself through His death in His physical body. As a result, He has brought us into His own presence, and now we are Holy and blameless and stand before Him without a single fault.” (Colossians 1: 22)
This is amazing! He has made us clean by His own blood. It’s nothing that we did. Jesus paid it all on the cross. We just came to Him asking for forgiveness and He washed us clean.
How can we walk in assurance? Now, it’s our responsibility to continue in our faith, established and firm (not wishy-washy) in the gospel message that Jesus paid for everything.
KINGDOM KEY: Jesus died so we can live.
He has enabled us to live victoriously not in ourselves but in Him.
Actually, He made peace through His bloodshed on the cross.
He secured and assured us of our right-standing with God.
Now, it’s up to us to not be moved or drift away from the hope and assurance we have IN Christ.
KINGDOM KEY: He died so that I could have freedom through Christ.
So I conclude, as Paul spoke, saying, “We must continue to believe that Jesus paid it all for us.” When we received Him as Lord and Savior, we have received assurance of what He has done and what we have been given in Him and through Him.
Be assured of what He has done, and reassured of who you are IN HIM. You are worthy to walk in His fullness.
