Imagine yourself standing in front of a waterfall. As you listen to the sound see this as an image of restoration always flowing toward us. Yes, this restoration from God, is continually washing over us, even in our seasons of suffering.
When the road seems long and suffering has ended yet, here’s a promise to chew on: “The God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory, in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” 1 Peter 5: 10
If the question was asked, “How many like to suffer?” I am sure that there would NOT be an abundance of folks saying yes with hands raised.
As I looked up other translations of this verse, here’s what some of them said, as I combined them: “…God will restore, perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you, make you stronger than ever. Yes, He will set you firmly IN PLACE and build you up.”
Whatever PLACE YOU ARE IN right now, if it’s a season of suffering, be encouraged and trust that God is replacing your hardship with building you up.
Our Kingdom Point: Allow suffering to lead you to restoration.
When we acquire His character, His steadfastness, it is only then, that we can stand firm in our faith.
When Peter was writing this letter to encourage the Christians, they were being persecuted for their faith. Whatever persecution, or suffering, or distress we are in, remember God is setting us firmly in place, and positioning us to stand strong in His strength, not our own!
