As I was focusing on this verse, I began reading the chapter from the beginning and learned some things about God, whose name is the I AM. Before God appeared to Moses in the burning bush, “He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God.” Exodus 3: 1b
It’s in the wilderness places of our lives that God reveals Himself. Don’t be afraid to go deeper. It may lead you to the mountain of God.
God didn’t speak to Moses until He, “Saw Moses coming to take a closer look.” Exodus 3: 4
What happened next? As soon as Moses positioned himself in a place of being ready, He shouted to God, saying, “Here I AM! Immediately, God told Moses to stop and not come any closer. Why? He wanted Moses to recognize that He is on Holy ground. Then He gives Moses his commission.
Commissioned in the fire of God requires holiness.
What am I seeing in this? Before we are commissioned, we need to recognize His holiness, as we come closer to God, the I AM, who sends us.
Before we receive His commission, we must receive Him, and embrace His holiness.
The I AM is His eternal name, His name to remember for all generations.
HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND? Embrace the I AM in His holiness. They are one. We are told, “Be holy for I Am holy.” 1 Peter 1: 15-16
