Intercessor

Do we ever think of Jesus as our Intercessor? Well, He is the one who still makes intercession for us. When I looked up the word intercessor it said, “A person who intervenes on behalf of another, especially by prayer.”

Usually, we think of praying people as women; but Jesus lived a life of prayer while on the earth and it still is continuing in heaven.  There are praying men, but it seems that most prayer meetings are usually filled up with women!    Since Jesus is our model, women and men are called to pray!  

That’s amazing that Jesus is still intervening on our behalf.  Didn’t He do enough on the cross?  His love is truly never-ending.  

Here’s what took place as God was looking for someone to intervene for His people, He asks:  “Where was the intercessor who would plead God’s case to the people, and the people’s repentance to their God? No intercessor could be found; therefore, His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness.   Isaiah 59: 16 

One commentary gave an explanation saying, “God waited and waited for a disobedient Israel to turn to Him. He waited and waited for a man to lead them back to Him, or an intercessor to plead before Him. None arose; so the LORD did it Himself. (Guzik)

That’s what Ephesian 6 and putting on the full armor of God is.  We place His armor on not only for ourselves but for others.  We battle through prayer.  We get to stand in the gap, make intercession, and plead the case, for another, just like Jesus does.  

“It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”  Romans 8: 34  

Now I understand what this means:  “Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.    Does it mean He no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, hungry, destitute, in danger, or threatened with death? ”  Romans 8: 35

He’s forever calling us to Himself.  May He receive His children.
