Have you ever wondered how to define what a “righteous” person looks like?
A “righteous” person is one who is in right standing with God. Sounds simple enough, right?
You may ask, “How do we get there?” Through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Those who have decided to follow God will live their lives according to His teachings and blessings will come forth from that obedience.
Does that mean we need to carry a Bible around constantly showing folks? No, but here’s what we can learn about righteousness:
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew 5: 6
Are you hungry for the things of God? Do you want a fulfilling life? If you’ve answered yes, then align yourself with God’s plan and purpose and I guarantee that you will be full!
Isaiah the prophet, said it this way: “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.” Isaiah 55: 1
Then he asks this very important question?
“Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.” Isaiah 55: 2
The bottom line is this: If you want to be fulfilled and satisfied for life, this is an invitation that will always fulfill and never grow old.
What is this indicating?
Spiritual refreshment, abundance, enjoyment, and nourishment are provided by the One who is all of that. His name is Jesus.
The beautiful thing of being hungry and thirsty for the One who is our life is that when you “Taste and see that the Lord is good,” Psalm 34: 8, this goodness overflows into every area of our life.
