Sermon: Mission Possible – Don’t Be Found Sleeping
We have a responsibility to expose the darkness in our time – to speak Truth into power – to speak The truth “because of” love.
Jimmy Pruitt answered God’s call to ministry in his early 20’s in Lubbock, TX. He finished both his BA and MA degrees at Howard Payne University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Central Christian University respectively. Jimmy has served in church ministry more than 38 years in varied roles. He has been a Lead Pastor over 17 years. Max Lucado invited and commissioned Jimmy (Lead) and Annette (Executive) to lead Bridge Church when it was planted out of Oak Hills Church, San Antonio in September of 2019.
We have a responsibility to expose the darkness in our time – to speak Truth into power – to speak The truth “because of” love.
We don’t want to miss the next wave of God, or to just cheer the next generation on from a distance.
We feel like God is a hundred miles away from us, but really He’s right next to us, saying, “I’m ready when you’re ready.”
Give the heaviness – give the burdens – give the gut-wrenching feelings of the devastation to God.
Pray for wisdom, discernment, and godly strategies to bring our nation back to God’s intended foundations of faith, family, and freedom.
Pray for wisdom, discernment, and godly strategies to bring our nation back to God’s intended foundations of faith, family, and freedom.
Christ saves by becoming and fulfilling the law and requirements, and offering to “clothe” our nakedness in His righteousness.
The only way to turn towards reconciliation is through repentance – by turning to God.
We may be retired from our work, but we can’t retire from life, and we will never retire from the Kingdom of God.
God would say, “Stay. The. Course. Don’t stop in the middle of the storm! Keep going!”
God doesn’t see us where we are now, He sees what we can become – He sees the finished work.
We don’t need more of God in our life, our life needs to die and we need to step into the life God has for us – the story He has already written for us.
It’s not a right or an entitlement, it’s a privilege to serve our God in this world and to make a difference.
It’s up to God to move us in whatever direction He wants, but it’s up to us to come and yield to Him.
God is about the long game with us – he wants us to endure to the end, not just be happy today.
His grace actually brings us home and restores us to our original condition, and we celebrate that.
We go where we’re invited and tell our story – what God has done for us.
The key to winning spiritual warfare isn’t knowing our opponent the devil better, it’s knowing our Lord better.
God fulfills seemingly impossible promises in the lives of those who He is in covenant with.
The aroma of Christ is not just so we can smell good but to get attention, and to make a difference.
Walking by faith will lead us, in God’s timing, to the full experience of that which has been previously unseen (in the natural realm).
God is always on-time and exact in His plan. He brings us what we need in just-the-right package even if it’s not the one we asked for.
Jesus is here to transform our heart – to completely change us from the inside out, and He does that by the Person, presence, ministry, and power of the Holy Spirit.
We must get back to the mandate – the commission – what He’s called us to do.
We want God’s peace but we don’t want His presence, because His presence will mess up our lifestyle decisions.
All day, every day, we are baptized in repentance and constantly re-aligning ourselves to His ways and to His Kingdom.
We don’t need to beat ourselves up for what we didn’t do in the past, we need to begin to wake up to what’s here now.
We step over the line and move from head-knowledge to heart-knowledge, from being born of water in the natural to being born again in the Spirit.
God wants to lead us into beautiful, just-the-right-time moments.
The same Holy Spirit that was on Peter, and who raised Jesus from the dead, also works in us – in every conversation.
What God calls us to, He will equip us for, and He will empower us for. He’ll give us what we need to do the job that He’s called us to do.
We are at a crossroads as a nation, and we have got to get out and do our duty – to let our voices be heard and to exercise our power – and vote!
When we wake up in the morning, we should orient our life around the kingdom of God, saying, “God, what is Your will – that’s what I’m doing.”
Those who “get in the Book” at least four times a week experience the active power of God in their lives.
The most frequent reason Jesus rebuked his disciples was for their lack of faith, or, what He called a hard heart.
If the Holy Spirit authored the Book and inspired the writing, He is also the One who has to illuminate our understanding of it.
The Bible is our instruction manual. If we ignore it, we’ll fail to see any measurable difference in improving our lives.
Will we stand for biblical values, seeing the world through a biblical lens no matter what it costs us or our family?
No matter what’s going on in our culture right now – no matter how dark it looks, don’t forget – Jesus is in the storm.
God has empowered us with grace – a license to live our life for God, righteousness, and holiness.
If we’re sick from eating the junk food of the flesh, we’ll have no appetite for the things of the Spirit.
God is where the action is and He is calling us to stand up for righteousness, justice, God’s Word, and our foundations as a nation.
God will never come into a place or a person where He is not held in the utmost reverence, respect, and awe.
If time is as short as we think it may be, then we have some things that need to get done.
True humility before God is the nuclear game-changer of the mind war.
The contemporary church struggles to bring a clear clarion word in a society that is struggling with division and confusion.
We have a part to play in bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to supersede and overlay the kingdom of this earth.
How are we going to live the life of a saint – a called one of God – if we’re stuck in the mire of a sinner identity?
The more you battle with rejection, the more you’re going to need to listen and hear and believe the Father’s loving, accepting, and affirming words.
Loving people doesn’t mean that we tolerate or embrace their decisions.
History tells us that we always come back and that God is faithful to redeem and restore.
Revival starts with reformation, which is the return to the Word of God.
We should be clear about what is our calling to proclaim the Word of God – the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We want to welcome and embrace with tenderness the presence of God and with openness move back into the place of holiness.
Whatever God values and loves, we want to participate in that!
We will be called upon in various environments where we live, work, and play to stand up for Jesus.
In the face of death, three young men were called upon to take a stand for what they believed.
Jesus won the war – but there are many skirmishes yet to be fought.
Jesus wants us to say it with authority because He is conferring authority on us.
When we’re confronted by severe storms in life, we’d better pray like we’re in a war room – intense and unafraid.
When we feel feeble, and wonder if it really matters that we’re praying, we need to know that our prayers really do matter.
Hear the power of the invitation of God, who is saying, “It’s time to go deeper – to stop settling for second-best when you can have first-best.”
When are we going to speak up, and say that God has given us a responsibility to be a change agent in this world?
