Author Abigail H. Castel (MA, LMHC) brings a welcome addition to Kingdom Winds Publishing: a book for children.

Castel is a practicing Child and Family Therapist working with children, adolescents, and families. Her experience working with children and families has inspired a series of books she’s named the “Well Done” series, in line with Proverbs 22:6, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (NIV).

As our children go through life, they face many challenges that are common to all. Castel’s books offer meaningful stories layered with life lessons and practical skills, perfect tools for helping our children process the different situations.

New beginnings, while exciting, are always hard, and the first day of school is no different. Grant’s First Day of School follows Grant as he prepares himself for the first day of kindergarten all the way through the close of that first day. People in Grant’s life offer him encouragement and advice on how to manage his anxiety about the first day of school.

In Castel’s words, “Parents are important and crucial in the lives of their children… When parents understand and empathize with their child, they are showing compassion and love in action.” And Castel’s book, Grant’s First Day of School, is a tool to help parents do exactly that.
