It Is Finished!

One no longer has to earn salvation, but just needs to repent of sins and accept what Jesus had done.

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30

Starting something is easy, but bringing it to a completion and finishing it, is another issue. Roadblocks and other issues will come up getting in the way of completing a difficult project. Many will often give up on the project, weary of fighting to get over the obstacles. Once completed, there is great satisfaction, especially when it is a more difficult project to complete.

John records that as Jesus was hanging on the cross, He was given some sour wine, then He stated that it is finished. Then Jesus gave up His spirit and died on the cross.

All around the world people are fighting for and searching for a better life. There is a hope that things will get better. Many are expecting that there is some type of life after death that is better than this life. People will spend their lives trying to qualify to get into heaven, usually following false beliefs and false gods.

This desire for something better is placed in the heart by God when He created mankind to have a relationship with Him. Sin had separated mankind from God and tore away all hope, yet God had a plan to redeem all who would believe Him.

Jesus came to this earth for one specific purpose–to die upon the cross. There was a price for the sin that every person committed, and Jesus was willing to pay that price. The moment He died on the cross, He had finished His work that He came to do. Sin was overcome and forgiveness was available.

One no longer has to earn salvation, but just needs to repent of sins and accept what Jesus had done. The fight for salvation is over, it is finished!

There are probably some projects that you have started but were unable to finish. One project you cannot finish is earning your way into heaven as many false beliefs lead one to believe. That ticket to heaven has been paid for by Jesus. He had finished that project when He gave up His spirit while hanging upon the cross.

Stop trying to earn your way into heaven and accept what Jesus did. Accept the forgiveness and life Jesus is offering you. He finished, will you?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know Jesus paid the price for your sins; that you will know Jesus gave up His life on the cross for you to live; and that you will live in the life Jesus is willing to give you.
