Brought Up From The Pit

As long as one has breath to breathe and can still think, there is hope.

I went down to the moorings of the mountains; the earth with its bars closed behind me forever; yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Lord, my God.

Jonah 2:6

Going deep under a lot of water in an ocean or sea can be exciting for one who chooses to do so. There are a lot of things that one can see or do by choice. If one has not chosen to go down under the ocean, it can be a very scary situation. Being underwater without choice will often be a threat of death with the lack of oxygen.

Jonah talks about how he went down to where mountains are based and the earth was closed behind him, but God brought him up from the pit.

There are times in life in which everything appears to go wrong. Disaster after disaster strikes tearing a person down. Sometimes those disasters are so great that it appears as if all life is over and that there is no hope left.

This can sometimes occur due to choices made by a person. Other times it is due to God bringing things on a person to get one’s attention back on Him, due to sinful choices made in one’s life.

Being buried under an ocean of difficulties does not leave much hope for a person. However, as long as one has breath to breathe and can still think, there is hope. That hope is found in Jesus Christ.

By crying out to God, one can find hope and salvation. God can bring one up out of the pit of problems that one may be buried in. Through Jesus forgiveness is found and lives are restored and made new. One is raised up to a new life in Christ Jesus.

Life may bury you at times under the weight of sinful choices. It may appear that you can no longer breathe and are going to die, with no hope left. The pit you are in may be so deep that there is no sign of hope.

Turn your eyes up to God and cry out to Him. Repent of all sin and put your trust in Jesus for your salvation. Allow God to lift you up out of the pit and ocean you may be under to restore you and make you whole. Give God the glory for lifting you up.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the hope you can have in Jesus; that you will keep your eyes on God; and that God will lift you up out of any pit you may be in; and that you will know the abundant life you can have in Jesus.
