Wedding Debt

If you trust God and don’t fall for Satan’s schemes, the Lord will show up for you.

Many years back, my wife and I were planning our wedding. We had a budget of $15,000 for everything. That was a lot of money and as the weeks got closer I didn’t know how I was going to pay it without going into debt. I prayed to God for help, and God said to me, “Winston, you’re going to get married, and you’re not going to have to borrow a dime.”

We knew that we had to pay everything in full no later than thirty days before the date. The deadline was fast approaching, and soon, our wedding day was only two months away. By then, my wife and I had managed to pay $3,000 for what we owed, but we still had $12,000 left. We had to pay for the decorator, the wedding venue, and everything else, and we only had a month to do it. We didn’t know how we were going to make those payments.

My wife was worried. She told me, “Winston, I think we’re going to have to get a loan. It’s going to be too hard for us to pay that off in just a month.”

I shook my head and said, “Babe, when I proposed to you, God told me that I wouldn’t have to get a loan. I’ve got to trust God.”

I put my faith in God, and He came through for me. That week, I earned nearly $7,000. Within a month, I made more than $25,000. It was the most money I’d ever earned in my business up to that point. God opened up the wonders of Heaven for my wife and me. Had I gone out and gotten a loan, I would have never had the opportunity to see God’s work.

I told God, “Lord, I trust in You; do not let me be put to shame,” and He responded to my faith in Him. Since I was dependent on Him, He answered my prayer. Even though getting that money seemed impossible, I knew that I had to believe in God, and He would provide. He sent more people than ever to my business, and He made sure that I did amazing numbers throughout that month. My phone calls, my road calls, and my tire sales all increased.

Before that month, my wife and I had planned our honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was not our first choice, but it was what we could afford. We didn’t have the money to fly elsewhere, so we picked somewhere close that we could drive to. But God did so much for us that in about six weeks, we were able to book a honeymoon in Florida. God made sure that we didn’t have to drive. We got to fly there, and we had enough left over to hire a chauffeur. Not only that, but we were able to extend our vacation to a full week when we were originally planning to stay only three days.

God opened up that door to us, and He will do the same for you in your business. If you trust God and don’t fall for Satan’s schemes, the Lord will show up for you. But He can’t show up if you decide that you don’t need Him. If I had gotten a loan to pay for my wedding, there would have been no reason for God to manifest for me because I would have already taken the matter into my own hands.

If God gives you His word trust Him because it will never return void. I was confident in God because I knew from scripture He could do the impossible. As believers, we must wait on God and save ourselves from unnecessary debt.
