Abby is a music and food enthusiast who believes a good record and some ice cream can cure anything that ails. A northerner from DC turned southern transplant, she ventured to Greenville SC to receive a bachelor’s in English and Music from Furman University. When she began volunteering with youth groups as a college student, she developed an interest in young adults and an obsession with teenybopper shows of all kinds. In addition to being the proud mama of a frisky feline fur baby, Abby is an avid blogger for abbyfricke.com, where she documents the adventures of adulting. She currently lives and teaches high school English and Creative Writing in Charleston SC.

PURPOSE
Abby writes as a way to process the world around her. As a relatively soft-spoken person, writing allows Abby to feel empowered and loud. “I love the beauty behind stringing a strand of words together,” she mentions. Her deepest desire for her writing would be that it would reach and impact people, and essentially make them feel validated in their emotions and own stories. After all, a good book can make someone feel a little less lonely in this world.

AUTHOR of Somewhere In Between
Though Fricke’s book Somewhere In Between may be fictional, the story she tells is anything but. The life of the main character, Amy, is filled with flashbacks and internal dialogue that brought to light not only external struggles but internal struggles real people regularly face.
Anyone who picks this twenty-chapter book off the shelf will gain the opportunity to walk in Amy’s shoes and see hardship and victory through another person’s eyes. It serves as an encouragement to check on your loved ones and stand up for those who may have trouble standing up for themselves. Additionally, it is a sweet reminder that help is always available and hope is never too far away.
