Many Christians start out in their walks with a great start, but when they start running into opposition from the enemy, they start faltering because of the issues they’re running into. Knowing that you have a real inheritance in Jesus Christ is great, but possessing it is an entirely different story.
It’s at this point where future decisions that will affect the rest of your life are determined. Like whether or not they’re going to quit running their race or not. Many of us, when we are confronted by the enemy, we want to run and hide instead of facing the difficult choices we sometimes will have to make. It is these choices that will either accelerate our journey with God forwards or completely stall it out.
When people are running in a race, they all start out with a great start normally, but as they progress in the race (especially the long races), they will eventually come to the place where they hit what’s called the wall! It’s not a physical wall, but it’s a figurative one.
Hitting the wall is when every part of them starts screaming for them to stop going forward because they are experiencing fatigue, muscle cramps, exhaustion, or other physical issues. It’s at this point that those decisions are made. You can either stop as the flesh is urging you, or you can press through and into what’s called the “SECOND WIND”!
This SECOND WIND is sometimes more robust than the original burst at the start, and it seems to cause enormous endurance to take over from what feels like out of nowhere! It defies the flesh’s demands to give up and propels the individuals to the finish line.
The SECOND WIND is where your carnal ability ends, and the Power of the Holy Spirit takes over.
Often when we hit the spiritual “WALL,” the enemy will throw everything he can at us in an attempt to get us to stop. Discouragement, hope differed, broken covenants, financial issues, and many other of these things are attempts from the enemy to get you to give up right before the second wind kicks in.
We need to push past the flesh and accelerate into the things of the Holy Spirit, Who will cause us to run the race with His Endurance and not give up. It’s always the darkest right before dawn. Often you hit that wall in the Spirit realm when you are sitting on the verge of a major breakthrough if you’ll just press in a little farther.
No one said walking this walk or running this race would be easy, but He promised never to leave us or forsake us in the process. If you’re in this place and feeling like you want to quit, Press in harder, press in completely, for as you do, you may find your SECOND WIND right in the middle of it All!
