The truth, can you handle?
Was wrapped in such scandal.
The gossip did spread
As the shepherds were led
To a babe in a manger
In a stable near strangers.
A virgin gave birth
So God could be with us
Down here on earth.
The Name above all names
Was given to Him.
They named him Jesus.
He would die for our sins.
The news, it got out
And the scandal did spread
Because Jesus was healing
And raising the dead.
And a new day was here
And new Life we could find
Where we would be known
As one of a kind!
We’d be loved by the One
Who the scandal was after;
The One they made fun of,
With the jeers and the laughter.
And then came the time
When Jesus died on that tree;
He died in our place
For you and for me.
For God, who is holy
And can’t look upon sin,
Sent His spotless Lamb
So we could know Him
And have peace within.
We’d be wrapped in His grace
And then be assigned
A place in heaven
And not left behind.
Oh, such scandalous love
Sent down from above,
Who would walk to the cross
And suffer such loss
And die in our place
And be placed in a grave
And rise from the dead.
Oh, what more could we say,
But worship the One
Who was wrongly accused
And took such abuse
For me and for you!
“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
