Would You Dance at a Ball Game?

I see your every move. There is nothing hidden from Me. I take pleasure in your praise and worship to Me. I take pleasure when you dance before Me.

It was between the 4th and 5th inning. Bea and I were on the third base side minding our own business. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed two little boys “getting down.” The music was blaring, and these brothers were having the time of their life with their dad. The stadium music had captured their full attention. These little fellows were singing and dancing with all their might. They care nothing about the ball game, the score, or anything else for that matter. They were oblivious as to who might be watching them except, of course, their dad.

Every now and then, they would check to see if their father was still watching. These little boys were adorable, but more interesting to me was the reaction of their father. He did not feel the need to stop them from enjoying themselves, nor was he embarrassed over their behavior nor their volume. This 6-foot-tall man would periodically glance down at his sons, half his size, and grin (even though some of their disco moves merited a laugh). The father seemed to enjoy the fact that his sons were having a good time.

Then the father realized his sons wanted his full attention, for which he obliged.

As I continued to look upon “the boys’ night out,” the scene made me think of my relationship with the Lord and how He must view my worship to Him and me. The Lord spoke to me and said, “You do not have to wonder – I see your every move. There is nothing hidden from Me. I see you when you offer praise to Me. I take pleasure in your praise and worship to Me. I take pleasure when you dance before Me. Your behavior does not embarrass Me, nor do I feel the need to stop you. I enjoy watching you enjoy Me! I am there amid your praise. I have promised to inhabit the praises of My children. Do not fear that I will tell you to sit down and be quiet. I tell you, truly, if My children don’t praise Me, the rocks will cry out.”

2 Samuel 6:14 tells us that “David danced before the Lord will all his might” (NLT).

Lord, please teach me how to be comfortable enough before You that I would worship You with all my might.

Psalm 150, NASB tells us:

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty expanse. Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!”
