Witnesses

I can’t wait to see the Lord’s garden display in our heavenly home.

As we continue to look at the book of Revelation, there is so much to take in.  There are two witnesses that appear before him.  Who are these two witnesses seen by John?  “These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.  These men have power to shut up the sky (Elijah) so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague (Moses) as often as they want.”  (Revelation 11: 4, 6)

The first one would be Elijah (1 Kings 17: 1, Luke 4:25, James 5: 17) when he prayed and it stopped raining for three and a half years. The second witness would be Moses where God used him with bringing the plagues but specifically, the water turned to blood.  (Exodus 7: 17-21)

This imagery emphasizes that the power for effective testimony is supplied by the Spirit of God.  Zechariah 4 speaks of the golden lampstand and the two olive trees.

After John sees the witnesses, he then hears the second woe has passed, the third woe is coming.

The Seventh Trumpet is sounded. “And there were loud voices in heaven which said, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and He will reign for ever and ever.”  (Revelation 11: 15)

“Then God’s temple in heaven was opened and within his temple was seen the ark of the covenant.”  (Revelation 11: 19)

The Power Of A Witness

Where does a witness get his/her strength from?  “Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.  Remember the wonders he has done,  His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced.  (Psalm 105: 4-5)

  • Whatever He has spoken, it shall be fulfilled.  “He remembers His covenant forever, the Word He commanded, for a thousand generations, he Covenant He made with Abraham, the oath He swore to Isaac.  He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree; to Israel as an everlasting covenant: To you, I will give this land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit.”  (Psalm 105: 8-11)
  • As His children, we all are His witnesses

Esther A Faithful Witness

Esther is known for her courage and beauty, and of her commitment to the king who asks her “What is your request?”

The story begins displaying the king’s vast wealth and his kingdom of splendor and glory of his majesty, which was a full 180 days.  After these days were over a banquet is thrown which lasts several days.

  • He has nothing on our Lord’s glorious kingdom and His majesty.

The text speaks of a “Garden having hangings of white and blue linen, fastened with cords of white linen and purple material to silver rings on marble pillars.”  (Esther 1: 6)

I can’t wait to see the Lord’s garden display in our heavenly home. I’ve put in a reservation already to linger there, but not sure of the date I’ll be arriving yet.  He’s got that figured out!
