Are we wise in all of our decisions? Are we wise to know when to speak and when to listen? This verse jumped out at me during my reading time: “Wisdom is proved right by her actions.” (Matthew 11: 19)
Let’s look at this from another angle. Do our actions show that we are wise? Well, our actions are the part that everyone sees, so if our actions are not good, they will be visible to all. So what’s inside still may need to be cleaned up.
I am so thankful for Jesus! Jesus is our High Priest, the one who made the atonement for our sin when He died on the cross. Simply expressed, He took my sin upon Himself, and gave me a clean slate. So then, I need to acknowledge and understand Him, by coming to Him.
When I now read “Be holy, because I am holy.” (Leviticus 11: 44), I completely understand that I cannot be holy on my own, only through Him. Boy is that comforting! I acknowledge and understand fully how much I need Him.
Walking the way of wisdom is a process, but once we know the source of all wisdom, (Jesus), it’s not that hard to achieve. When we follow Him, wisdom comes inside. The power of the Holy Spirit works in our life and draws us closer. Listen to this verse:
“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” (Proverbs 24: 3)
How do we build our house with understanding and knowledge? “Know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2: 2-3)
Finding wisdom is finding Jesus! “Wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” (Proverbs 24: 14)
(Matthew 11: 1-19, Leviticus 11-12, Proverbs 24, Modified)
