Did we learn what it means to be unified in the workplace earlier or later in life? Working alongside others teaches us teamwork and unity. Who would take the credit for the roofing project these men are engaged in, in this photo? All of them should, but the glory in everything we do should always go to the Lord.
Paul learned this: “I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me…not by what I’ve done, but by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit.” (Romans 15: 18-19)
- When people praise you, learn to usher all the thankfulness to God, so He gets the glory. (Shared from Romans 15: 14-33)
The Psalmist knew how to always give God the credit. He made sure his mouth proclaimed it: “My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation all the day long, though I know not its measure.” (Psalm 71: 15)
He’s in it for the long haul too, declaring, “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God…till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.”
- Proclaim His name and fame into the next generation. (Psalm 71: 18) (Shared from Psalm 71, Paraphrased)
David learned to give God the credit, even if he seemed to be on the wrong side, for a short time. Why is David among the Philistines? He is on the enemy side, among the ungodly, ready to fight against God’s people.
- Know which side you are on and stay there.
David is in a place that he never thought he would be in. Learning to give God the credit, helps to stay on the right side. It’s hard to even imagine that David could be on the enemy’s side. Even the Philistine leaders knew he was on the wrong side.
- Crossing over into the enemy’s territory can be seen by others before we see it.
The Philistines fought and pressed hard against Israel and killed Saul’s sons, Jonathan was among them. “The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him critically.” (1 Samuel 31: 3) Saul instructed his armor-bearer to finish him off, but he would not do it, and Saul did with his own sword.
Even in all of that, “David found strength in the Lord His God.” (1 Samuel 30: 6)
- Know what side you are victorious over.
- Giving God the credit and the glory is staying on the right side.
Concerning obedience, “It was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend.” (James 2: 23)
- Our acts of obedience and what we believe gives us a credit account that we can draw from.
- Deposits are being made on our behalf. (Shared from 1 Samuel 29-31, Paraphrased)
