Who are You?

God sees the rich tapestry that His Holy hands used to create and design your beautiful body, spirit, and mind.

Who are you? What do you see when you look in the mirror? What do you picture when you think of yourself? Has the life you lived shaped the image of how you see yourself, whether good or bad? Has it been shaped by the words spoken over you or to you by others, either in love or with anger-filled hearts?

I would encourage you to take some quiet time today and reflect on this. You see, it’s so important how we view ourselves. It carries weight on how our day will go because if the image we see is good, then we tend to see good in the things around us. We are more inclined to think good thoughts. But if the image we have is bad, we are filled with doubt and hesitation, and all we tend to see is what is wrong. A heaviness and sadness overtakes us, overwhelming us at every turn.

This ought not to be so beloved. We are to see ourselves as God sees us. And though that can be hard to wrap our minds around at times, it is what we are told to do.

Now I will be the first person to say that can be hard, especially if, like me, you came up in a very abusive environment, never feeling love or wanted, even into your adult years. Dealing with abandonment issues on top of that will leave you seeing yourself far less beautiful than what the Word says we are. I struggled for many years to stop seeing myself the way others called me, struggled to believe that God saw and sees beauty within me, but He does. And to find that out, I had to learn what He had to say.

Psalm 139:13  says He formed me in my mother’s womb. It was with Holy hands that I was shaped. He picked the color hair I would have, how tall I would be, the color of my eyes, whether I would have dimples or not, and even chose that I would have freckles. Those were His choice! What He designed! Right while I was still in my mother’s womb. And He breathed life into me. When Holy hands shape and make you, how can you then say you are not beautiful?!

You have to spend time meditating on this powerful Truth to realize your worth. Not only did He design us with His Holy hands, but He placed beautiful gifts on the inside of us that would touch the lives of others, so we could be connected even deeper and richer. That the world could see Him reflected in our lives. We are special. We are loved deeply. We are blessed beyond measure! We are never alone!

Not only did He shape and design us, He longs to walk with us daily in an intimate relationship that grows stronger the more time we spend together. He is not someplace far off in never-never land, but as close as the air we breathe, as close as a whisper, and comes when we call, even when we don’t have words, a sigh brings Him close to our heart, to comfort, soothe, heal, touch, encourage.

You may be in a place today where you feel far from beautiful, but I want to tell you that you are His Holy, Beautiful one. In His eyes, He sees the rich tapestry that His Holy hands used to create and design your beautiful body, spirit, and mind. I want to encourage you today to look in the Word and read what God says about you. Stop listening to the lies of the enemy, the lies of others, and even the lies you have told yourself.

You were created for Greatness! You are Holy, Beautiful, loved, adored, precious in His sight, the Apple of His eyes, the one He longs to spend time with, the voice He longs to hear, the laughter that brings a smile to His lips, the touch that moves His heart, the one He daily prays for, for Your name is always on His lips.

So rise up, beloved, and take back what belongs to you. You were created in His image, designed by the very Hand of God. Every day is a day of victory when we walk in this Truth!
