Waterboarding the Prophets of God

The timing of prophetic fulfillment is set by the will of God, not the will of man.

In the image, I saw a group of prophets being led into a public square to be waterboarded. This event was taking place because a word they shared seemed to have failed according to the human measurement – a measurement determined by their accusers.

The prophets were forced to lie down face up. Their faces were covered by multiple layers of shaming, accusation, and dismissal in preparation for torture. Waters of human judgment were then poured on their covered faces in an attempt to drown their reputations.

This act was not prophets being subject to the righteous inquiry of fellow prophets. It was a cruel work of darkness instigated by a religious spirit sent to dismiss the prophetic words that had been delivered in faith. Finally, under the dark outpouring, the prophets could no longer breathe and in a moment of weakness and fear submitted to the torture, not to the failure of the word. Their spirits were willing, but their flesh was weak.

The submission of the prophets to the torture was all that was needed for their critics to declare that what they had prophesied was a prophetic miss.  Unseen by the accusers was a battle taking place behind the veil separating the heavens. The outcome of this battle was not dependent on the success or failure of prophets. It was a battle whose outcome will be a sovereign act of God. The victory will become an expression of God’s mercy for individuals and nations, even those who tortured the prophets thinking they were doing so in the name of God.

Be careful about prematurely judging prophetic words as false. Within our certainty that we have a complete understanding of something, God can deliver words through His prophets that will contradict our reasoning and understanding. The timing of prophetic fulfillment is set by the will of God, not the will of man. The fulfillment of prophetic words carries with them the miracles needed to accomplish the will of Heaven on Earth even when many feel they have produced enough evidence to dismiss a prophetic announcement prematurely.

“So, don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time—before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due” (I Corinthians 4:5).
