Watch The Manifestation of “By My Spirit” in 2020: A Decade of Rest

Lay down your weapons of the past decade and pick up the spiritual weapons of the next decade which are rest, hope, trusting in His sovereignty, and accepting the invitation to “Come up here.”

“So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,” says the LORD Almighty’.” – Zechariah 4:6 NIV

Each time I see the numbers 2020, I see this verse overlaid upon it. As I have prayed into the decade ahead, there are two things the Lord has highlighted to me:

  • The sovereignty of God will be displayed throughout the earth.
  • Resting in His sovereignty will be where victories are won.

As I was praying into these two things, the Lord began to highlight an interesting item in the new house that my family moves into across the nation (in the Washington DC region) as a prophetic sign. That “interesting item” is that this house has an elevator! What?! No, we are not moving into a mansion. The house was built as a model home for this community, so they put everything that was offered into it. An elevator for the third floor is one of those options.

As I listened to the Lord for the meaning of this elevator, I saw Jacob’s ladder and felt that there would be an ease about going up to the heavenly places and then an ease in returning with the revelation given. There will be a lot of going up and coming back down beginning in the new year. This will be the source of keeping us out of constant “ups and downs” in our souls.

“After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this’.” Revelation 4:1 NIV

The invitation and the open door is before you! The key to entering in is resting in the sovereignty of God. “Not by might, not by power, but by His Spirit!”

Just as I was pondering this “elevator prophetic sign,” Patricia King, who raised me up and mentored me as a prophetic voice, released a word and encounter regarding going up in the ease of an elevator to receive deeper revelation! This was such a confirmation for me (you can find that word on The Elijah List from 12/30).

As our family prepares to move next week to the Washington, DC region (we will be in Virginia), I found myself getting emotionally prepared for a battle. Everyone we know who has arrived there has had to face great battles. I found myself figuring out all sorts of ways to prepare spiritually, mentally and emotionally. It was like a subconscious preparation. As this was happening, the Lord interrupted me. He said, “Kathi, what are you doing? Do you not know that resting in Me is the key to your victory?”

As He spoke those words, I remembered the verse from Zechariah 4:6 and then the phrase that says, “It takes two to fight” kept going through my mind.

The enemy will try to pull you into “fight mode” because the past decade has been a “warring decade.” We have become more familiar with the battle than the rest of God. It’s what we’ve known and what we are familiar with but it’s time to change our “default” from battle to rest.

As we have laid down all we have known to enter into the new, we need to know the key to victory in the next decade is spiritual rest. It is an abiding trust, peace, and rest that does not engage in the provocation of the enemy designed to pull you out of rest and into war. I don’t exactly know what that will look like, but I trust that He will teach us. This will not be lethargy or inactivity, but rather a spiritual rest in His sovereignty. It’s a posture in your spirit that aligns your soul. There will be battles but the battle belongs to the Lord and will be won through the rest of the Lord.

I learned many years ago that supernatural peace was the key to my personal warfare being defeated (which you can read about in my 30 Days to Breakthrough: Journey into Peace book). Where there is peace there is no fear or warfare! But this rest will take us deeper, and it will be the one thing the enemy cannot fight. You will be like a warrior of rest.

Then I came across a word by Bob Jones I had never seen before. It is all about 2020-2029 and rest! Here is that word:

“The 2020s will reveal the “Rest” of God, to where the Body will come into a place of resting in God, where God will rest in us. And in this rest, the enemy will not be able to do warfare, because we are resting in God and He is resting in us. He will accomplish the things He means to do in a people that [are] at rest. He has always wanted a people that will come into His rest; there never has been one but rest is on the way.” — Bob Jones

Rest is on the way!

“…but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Hope and rest will be closely tied together. They walk hand in hand. If rest is the key to victory, then hoping in the Lord is the key to rest. Hopelessness will drain and exhaust you and battling in the way you have in the past will merely bring you into a war against hope.

Lay down your weapons of the past decade and pick up the spiritual weapons of the next decade which are rest, hope, trusting in His sovereignty, and accepting the invitation to “Come up here.”

I hear the “ding” of the elevator arriving and the doors opening to take you up. You will receive revelation and impartation about true rest for your souls and true spiritual rest. This will bring you much healing from the traumas of battle from the past decade.

The doors are now opening…enter in! Happy New Year!
