Understand Our Role

We did not vote  Him in and we cannot vote Him out.

Before we can understand our role, we must understand the role of Jesus.  Jesus came as a King, in the form of a tiny baby, slept in an animal feeding troth, and positioned with the animals in a cave or stable.  This was the King’s palace upon entry into this world.  His eternal role is Kingship.

Sometimes Kingship and authority are hidden in humility.

Remember when Pilate questioned Jesus, saying, “You are right in saying I am a King.  In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth.  Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me.”  (John 18: 37)

So what is our role or purpose in this picture?

To regain the lost dominion over the earth through the power of the Holy Spirit.  To deliver the message of the kingdom of God–the most important news to mankind–the gospel. “I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred on Me.”  (Luke 22: 29)

The word confer in this context means to appoint.  So Jesus is saying,  “I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed unto me .”

This is a position of an ambassador.

As an ambassador we can say, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors as though God were making His appeal through us.  We implore you on Christ’s behalf:  Be reconciled to God.”  (2 Corinthians 5: 20)

Jesus came so we can share His role/rule.

We are ambassadors of His Word.  Jesus is our King, not the president.  We did not vote  Him in and we cannot vote Him out.  It’s time to start thinking like Kingdom citizens.

Thank you, Lord, that you position men and leaders in nations.  He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise; and knowledge to those who have understanding.” (Daniel 2: 21)  You are Ruler over this nation!

He’s given us knowledge to acknowledge Him.

An ambassador is a unique position who has a kingdom disposition.  Here are some of the characteristics of an ambassador:

  • Appointed by the king.
  • Appointed to represent the kingdom.
  • Committed only to the interest of the kingdom.
  • Has access to all His king’s wealth and assignments.
  • He’s called to influence the territory for his kingdom.

KINGDOM PRINCIPLE:  Yes, as we understand our role, know that we are appointed, committed called, and given access to all the king’s affairs.  Our King is Jesus who rules and reigns forever!
