Time to Breathe: Send the Ruach

As I took these deep breaths I felt life and hope coming back into me.

Yesterday I was talking with a dear friend who has Covid-19 and he was sharing the darkness he experiences when he cannot get his breath. I have also heard this from others who have contracted this terrible illness. They all say that there seems to be a dark assignment within this virus that is attached to “breath” or the lack of breath.

Then I began to think of George Floyd and his last words, “I can’t breathe!” Those very words have pierced the heart of our nation at a time where the victims of this virus are speaking the very same words.

As I prayed and pondered this I found myself taking deep breaths. My heart was aching for those who are struggling to breathe. But as I took these deep breaths I felt life and hope coming back into me.

“The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 33:4

I find it interesting that the Book of Job has numerous instances where the breath of God is mentioned.

“By His breath, the heavens are cleared; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent.” Job 26:13

“But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.” Job 32:8

We all know what Job had gone through— the loss of family, the loss of health, the loss of wealth, and the loss of friends. But in the midst of this book, we find the breath of God credited as the source of life and understanding. I love where it says, “By His breath, the heavens are cleared.”

There is such a war raging in the heavenly realms over the breath of the Almighty coming upon mankind, and the sound that is to be released from His sons and daughters. This Hebrew year is represented by the mouth and the sound that comes forth from the mouth (5780: “Pey”— the mouth), and it seems the enemy has taken all of his demonic resources to block our breath so that our sound will be silenced.

Without breath, a man cannot speak or even utter a sound! Recently I had a dream in which a musician could not get his breath and his song was being silenced; although this dream had other meanings I also am reminded that we need breath to speak or to sing.

As you know, in California there is a ban on singing in church (or “chanting” which is probably referring to corporate prayers). Why? There are natural reasons regarding controlling the spread of the virus, but we can also discern that the enemy is inciting men to fear the breath that is released when there is corporate singing or praying.

The battle is for the breath of God and the breath that gives us words of declaration and songs of praise. The enemy has sent a virus upon the breath of man. We are afraid to breathe on one another; we are afraid that the breath of our neighbor will infect us and take the breath of life from us.

There is a demonic reversal of “breath” happening. When we breathe in we feel life but when a man is dying there is a final exhale that rids his lungs of air— never to breathe in life again.

Yet— the BREATH OF THE ALMIGHTY cannot be stopped! His sons and daughters must breathe in His breath and be filled with life once again. If you are experiencing a sense of being silenced or losing your song, your words, your voice, or your life— then now is the time to ask for the “Breath of the Almighty” to come and breathe life back into you!

Thanksgiving, high praise, declarations of “Who He is,” prayers, worship, and even the “groaning that is too deep for words” must go forth to defeat the assignment to steal the breath of life! Though we have been separated physically, it has not stopped the sound. More 24/7 worship is happening via the internet than ever before. This has created a second wave of warfare to remove the breath in order to stop the sound!

Now is the time to see a second wave of prayer and praise drown out the enemy’s army! It’s time to “Sing a little louder”—or a lot louder! Sing for those who cannot sing, cannot speak, and cannot find their breath.

There is the sound of prophecy that the Lord is releasing. I hear Him saying, “Prophesy breath!”

Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again! I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’” Ezekiel‬ ‭37:4-6‬ ‭

Prophesy His breath, sing songs about the breath of God, declare the Word regarding the breath of the Almighty! Breathe life back into the air— pure life filtered through His Spirit!

“Ruach” is the Hebrew word for “breath of God.” God breathes His Spirit (Ruach) into us! As I have shared in many of my articles in 2020, the Lord showed me prior to the new year that this would be a year that would be defined by, “Not by might nor by power but by My Spirit” says the Lord of Hosts. It is the breath of His Spirit— His Ruach— that is striking fear into the enemy! It is His Ruach who is needed as never before!

This is how we prophesy, this is how we gain understanding, this is how we live and breathe. Cry out for the Ruach to come— the breath and wind of His Spirit to blow and breathe life into the earth and its inhabitants. Do not hold back. Breathe life!
