This Is Not A Time To Run But To Retrofit Foundations

We are witnessing and even experiencing the contrast of what is built upon the Rock and what has been built upon sand.

We all know the childhood story of the “Three Little Pigs” that has a  terrible wolf who comes to “huff and puff and blow their house down.” Some might say that the times that we are living in is much like this little story. There is a very real wolf that is blowing on houses across the globe at this time.

Whenever I hear this child’s story I think of the story that Jesus told of the two foundations in Matthew 7:24-27,

Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

Truly the torrential rains and the mighty winds have begun.  We are witnessing and even experiencing the contrast of what is built upon the Rock and what has been built upon sand.

For me personally, I have taken this year to “examine my foundation” carefully. I have asked the Holy Spirit it retrofit my foundation and to search for cracks or any place that is not founded on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. When I feel “shaken” I immediately take that area of shaking before the Lord and ask Him to secure it upon Him.

One way to identify the areas that need to be “retrofit” is to watch where you have been shaken as the spiritual and natural winds and floods have come upon your life. In the story of “The Three Little Pigs”, the pigs that built their homes of straw and wood could not withstand the wind of the wolf but the one who built his house of brick was not only able to stand against the wind but also became a refuge for the one’s who lost their homes.

This is a simple and yet profound parable for this time. A “big, bad wolf” has been trying to blow some houses down! This is happening to individual houses and national houses. As we identify the areas that are collapsing as adversity comes— we have the opportunity to rebuild those areas upon a solid foundation. This is NOT a time to “cut-and-run” (because of areas of collapse or fear of collapse) but we are being given a window of time to allow the Holy Spirit to retrofit our spiritual foundation which will not be shaken.

We need the Lord to build our house and to watch over our cities!

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” Psalm 127:1

Recently I saw a vision of people running away from cities, from regions and from circumstances in fear because it appeared that areas of their lives were collapsing. Yet, in this vision, they were running away but taking the same foundations with them. They merely needed to remain still and allow the Lord to shore up their foundations.

This is not a time to run but a time to ask the Lord to examine and spiritually retrofit your foundation! He is the great “home inspector!” Now is the time to ask Him to do a personal home inspection of your life. He will find the cracks and the vulnerable areas that need to be retrofitted to align with the standard of Heaven.

I am asking Him to do that for our family, our city, and our nation— and the nations of the world. Do not run on fear but run “to the fear of the Lord!”

“How joyful are those who fear the Lord — all who follow his ways! You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be! Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine, flourishing within your home. Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees as they sit around your table. That is the Lord’s blessing for those who fear him.” Psalms 128:1-4

These are promises that should be manifesting within your home and family. I want the “Lord’s Blessing” upon my home— therefore I will follow His ways and make the fear of the Lord the standard that my foundation is built upon.

I declare the words from Psalm 1281-4 upon your life and your household. I pray that in every way you will follow Him and build upon His standards. May the Lord secure their foundations of His Church so that we might stand and be a refuge to those whose homes are collapsing. Amen!
