Where do we go when all around us is sinking? Is there anything that will stand like the Word of our God? Nope!
“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40: 8)
I remember getting this scripture downloaded to my spirit when I was standing in the fields in the hills of Pennsylvania, at Shanksville, PA, shortly after September 11th, 2001. I was listening to one of the volunteers giving testimonies about some of the passengers that were on Flight 93 that went down in this field. He was sharing how a young Asian man had his Bible that day with him on that flight. When the wreckage was recovered his Bible was found, still intact with only a few pages in the upper right-hand corner burned ever so slightly.
I knew that what this volunteer was testifying about was clearly a miracle, a sign of God’s Word standing firm forever. The plane had melted, and large pieces of metal disintegrated in the crash landing, among the jet fuel that exploded on impact; yet, this Bible, which is made of thin paper and leather, did not burn. No one survived, but the Word of God laid in the field and was found. Only the edges were slightly charred. You can google it and find the story in detail.
Yes, the Word of God stands firm forever! Keep looking up and to His Word and to Him! “See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and His arm rules for Him.” (Isaiah 40: 10)
His power is as a shepherd. “He tends His flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs in His arms, and carries them close to His heart, He gently leads those that have young.” (Isaiah 40: 11)
Our God Comforts And Creates
In times of not knowing, go to His Word for comfort and strength. “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth. Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” (Isaiah 40: 22, 26)
Our God Strengthens And Sustains
Do we know anyone that never gets weary? Our Lord never does, He’s God! “He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.” (Isaiah 40: 28)
He shares His strength with us too. “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weak, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40: 29-31)
- Run or walk in God and you will not faint.
- Rely on His strength to carry you to new heights.

Our God Releases His Word
Ezekiel had God’s strength, for sure. It takes great strength to carry out the plans and purposes of God. As a prophet, he had much opposition.
God instructs him this time to tell the mountains, “I am about to bring a sword against you and I will destroy your high places.” (Ezekiel 6: 5)
- The mountains were filled with high places of idolatry.
- God detests high places that take the place of Him.
God says they will know that I am the Lord. How? “When the people lie slain among their idols around their altars, on every high hill and on all the mountaintops, under every spreading tree and every leafy oak–places where they offered fragrant incense to all their idols.” (Ezekiel 7: 13)
Ezekiel had said to the people, God will, “Judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.” (Ezekiel 7: 3)
- God has the final word and the final move.

Our God Makes Us Alive In Christ
Jesus Himself is the Word. We’ve been strengthened and made alive. “Because of His great love for us, God who is rich in mercy made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.” (Ephesians 2: 4)
Our God Brought Us Near
We were once far away, “But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2: 13)
Not only has He brought us close, He “Has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.” (Ephesians 2: 14)
- Every hostile wall He destroyed.
- Every barrier is torn down.
He destroyed the barriers how? By making peace, to reconcile both Jew and Gentile into one new man. Before Jesus, they would not be united. Unifying is always the goal for our God.
- United body of believers, the church is one new man.
Our God Becomes A Dwelling Place
He tore down all walls of hostility. Why then should we erect what He has broken down?
- He rebuilds what has been broken.
“In Him, the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.” (Ephesians 2: 21-22)
The Church is a people, a community, in whom the Holy Spirit dwells.
- Now His Word is alive and active in us, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Alive and activated by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Let your voice be activated and made alive.
