When God shows up in your space, there’s nothing more important to do but consecrate the place. Then the Lord will be your God, your wellspring for life.
God met Jacob that day and reminded him of this: “I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised.” (Genesis 27: 15) Now God reassures him of that promise to be with him. This deep-promised well is greater than any natural well Jacob had ever dug. There is a well that springs up to eternal life, that was deeply opened up inside Jacob that day–An open heaven, with God’s assurance of always being with him.
Whatever we are called to do, rejoice in God’s strength, “How great is his joy in the victories he gives. Surely he has granted eternal rich blessings that make glad with joy in your presence.” (Psalm 21:6) His presence is the greatest blessing, a wellspring of all other blessings.
What is highly valuable to men, is usually not what’s of high value to God. His rewards do not have a price tag on them, they are eternal. Being rich in God is far greater than any earthly reward. Our increase, that we ask for, is not measured by a dollar amount, it’s about enlarging our heart toward God while climbing up the ladder to new levels in Him. May He increase and I decrease!
The only way we go up is to go down, and in the process, we are climbing higher. Figure that one out! That’s a spiritual principle and the opposite of what our world has taught us.
