A Bundle of Joy born on Christmas Day so many years ago
graciously came from Heaven to save our weary souls
He is Jesus, the Messiah, the Savior long foretold
the Promise who fulfills the prophecies of old
The Newborn King arrived just as prophecy did say
His mother laid the Sacred One upon the cattle’s hay
As much as Mary longed to hold her newborn Son
she placed Him in a manger as a sign for everyone
As Passover lambs were swaddled and laid in a manger bed
it’s through Jesus, the Sacrificial Lamb, that we’re forever fed
It’s through this Gift of Life, Heaven’s finest wheat
that life is truly found as His precious blood redeems
This unblemished Lamb and first-born male
is the spotless sacrifice who would take our nails
At birth and at death, wrapped in cloth as He lay
this holy Babe was born, to die, to take our stains
Jesus, the Messiah—The Savior long foretold
the Promise who fulfills the prophecies of old
Emmanuel, Prince of Peace, there is none like You
You are the Promise—The Promise come true!
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf.
Micah 5:2
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
