We have heard it talked about many times, how Jesus Christ is not only the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords but also how He Himself is the Head of the Government of God. What many have probably never heard talked about is our Role and Responsibility within that Government.
The disciples of Jesus Christ believed that Jesus was going to overthrow the Romans, who ruled almost the whole world at that time, and institute the government of God in a physical manner during their lifetime. This is why Peter reacted the way he did when Jesus talked about being killed:
“From that time forth Jesus began [clearly] to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders and the high priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised [a]from death. Then Peter took Him aside [b]to speak to Him privately and began to reprove and [c]charge Him sharply, saying, God forbid, Lord! This must never happen to You!” Matthew 16:21-22
What the disciples didn’t know at the time was that they were going to be the ones who were going to be used by the Holy Spirit to Transform the world, but that could only happen through Jesus’s death and Resurrection! They couldn’t see how Jesus’s death could be a good thing for the Kingdom at that time, but what Jesus Christ did was similar to what God did with Moses and the elders of Israel:
“So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord, and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people and set them round about the Tent. And the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and TOOK OF THE SPIRIT THAT WAS UPON HIM AND PUT IT UPON THE SEVENTY ELDERS; AND WHEN THE SPIRIT RESTED UPON THEM, THEY PROPHESIED [sounding forth the praises of God and declaring His will]. Then they did so no more.” Numbers 11:24-25
Jesus Christ has chosen the Church and the Body of Christ as members of His Government, not by a political process, but by the Impartation and Power of the Holy Spirit! You weren’t chosen by God because of your great speaking abilities, powerful charisma, or your physical appearance, but because of a surrendered life to King Jesus and by the infilling of the Holy Spirit of God Himself!
From that point forward, those elders of Israel helped carry the nation as its government with Moses by the same Spirit that was upon Moses. If you’ve been Born Again and have received the Holy Spirit, then you are part of God’s Government on the earth.
“DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT THE SAINTS (the believers) WILL JUDGE AND GOVERN THE WORLD? And if the world [itself] is to be judged and ruled by you, are you unworthy and incompetent to try [such petty matters] of the smallest courts of justice?” 1 Corinthians 6:2
If God has invested this Power within us (and upon us) then we must ask ourselves, “What are we doing with this Power and Authority?” Are we truly advancing Jesus’ purposes on the earth? Are we truly preaching that the Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand? Or are we sitting upon that Talent (Matthew 25:15-28) that God has given us and doing nothing with it?
Jesus Christ has given the Saints jurisdictional control of the earth and everything in it by the Power of the Holy Spirit, not to influence it through the wisdom of men’s talk but by the Demonstration of the Holy Spirit and His Power!
“FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD CONSISTS OF AND IS BASED ON NOT TALK BUT POWER.” 1 Corinthians 4:20
If we really are to ever see real change in the earth and the people around us, then it is going to manifest by the Power of God through the Demonstration of the Holy Spirit!
Your words and Natural wisdom will never be able to convince anyone about the Truth of God. But if you allow the Holy Spirit to speak and move through your life the way that He desires to, then His Power and Ability will manifest in place of yours, and people will run to experience real relationship with Jesus Christ the King!
Jesus Christ has put His Government upon your shoulders; what are going to do with what He’s given you?
