The Goose that Labored in Vain

Unless I breathe my breath of life into things, they will never be fruitful!

A few nights ago as I was asleep, The Lord started speaking to me and reminded me of something I witnessed as a teen.

My grandparents had a farm, and they had bought a posse of giant, guardian geese. These geese were very aggressive and we were all terrified of them! One day, as I was riding back to the farm on my Vespa with a friend of mine, we saw one of the geese gently, rolling something with its beak. As we got closer, we realized that the goose had made a pile of walnuts, that had fallen from the walnut tree, and placed it in a nest.

The poor goose sat on it and started incubating the walnuts.

My friend and I felt so bad for the poor goose, we rode all around town trying to find someplace that sold fertilized eggs, but we couldn’t find any.

As The Lord was reminding me of this episode, He said:

“So many of my children are just like this goose. They insist on trying certain things, thinking and believing they are from Me. They work so hard, pour all their energy into them. They place all their hopes and dreams in things that are dead! Things that are not meant to bring life, things that were never meant to be birthed! Things that may look and feel like the real deal, but they are not! They are so blinded by their ambitions and motives, that they cannot see that what they are nurturing will only bring disappointment and shame! They are laboring in vain! Unless I breathe my breath of life into things, they will never be fruitful! They will never bring blessing! They will wither and rot and you will be left with nothing! No matter how good it feels, no matter how long and hard you toil, no matter how many people try to help and support you, IT WILL NOT MULTIPLY, IT WILL NOT COME TO LIFE! STOP WASTING TIME ON THINGS I HAVE NOT COMMANDED YOU TO DO! UNLESS MY SPIRIT IS IN IT, IT WILL NEVER LIVE!”

John 15:4 NKJV Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
