The Final Answer

Are we seeking answers and pressing into hearing what God wants?  Do we even ask the Lord?

Posted on

Who do you go to if you are seeking an answer?  Do you call a good friend, a parent, or ask your spouse?  I guess it depends on what your question is.

In our reading today, in almost every paragraph it says, “The Lord says to Moses…”   It appears that Moses is in constant communication with the Lord.  The people were under judgment because they had disobeyed the specific commands.  Unfortunately, the rebellion was continuing.

Are we seeking answers and pressing into hearing what God wants?  Do we even ask the Lord?  In our time of wanting answers, it helps to remember:

  • Whatever the Lord says, happens!  He will speak.

We are told if we ask for wisdom, He will grant it, for wisdom is better.

  • Wisdom is better than strength.”  (Ecclesiastes 9: 16)
  • “Wisdom is better than weapons of war.”  (Ecclesiastes 9: 18)
  • “The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.”  (Ecclesiastes 10: 2)
  • “Words from a wise man’s mouth are gracious, but a fool is consumed by his own lips.”  (Ecclesiastes 10: 12)  Be gracious in your speech.  People will listen.

There was a woman, a mother, who had a special request for Jesus. Here’s the account:  “The mother of Zebedee’s sons (James and John) came to Jesus with her sons and kneeling down, asked a favor of him.  She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”  (Matthew 20: 20-21)

Jesus answered her saying, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first must be your slave–just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.”  (Matthew 20: 26-28)

  • Placement and position come from God.
  • How we serve is what God looks for.

The well-meaning requests of parents for their children to be positioned where they think they should be is not for them to ask.  The one in charge should be the one the parents should yield to.

Trying to push our children up to the front, when they are not ready to be up there yet, could indirectly be pushing them further back.

I have been around pushy parents in school activities, in sports, in dance, etc.  It’s nauseating when a parent is obnoxiously pushing their child forward when the child was made to linger in the back for a while.

How many softball games have we sat at when the parents, sitting on the sidelines, are getting into fistfights with other adults over an incident in the game.  Being an example of humility shouts louder than raising our fist and voice.

  • We don’t all need to be first and upfront.
  • True servanthood can come in the form of not being seen.
  • Not everyone needs a platform or needs to be in a front and center position.

When it’s your time to move up, God will promote you and get you there.

  • Your position in the Kingdom has been prepared by the Father for us to walk into.

He will tell you when it’s time to promote yourself.  There is not anything wrong with that.  Wait until He tells you to move.  Then move out and be intentional in doing so!  Keep asking for open doors.   “The last will be first and the first will be last.”

Two blind men were crying out to be healed and the crowd was rebuking them and was telling them to be quiet.  “Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes.  Immediately, they received their sight and followed him.”  (Matthew 20: 34)

Keep asking, talking, and communicating with Him.  He hears your cries, loud cries.  He has the final answer. He is the answer!
