Scripture:
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
As women, we often find ourselves surrounded by the tasks and demands of daily life. There are homes to keep, jobs to attend to, relationships to nurture, and the unending list of responsibilities that come with caring for our families. We cherish our homes, build our careers, and value the possessions that bring comfort and stability to our lives. Yet, in the quiet moments of reflection, we are reminded of a profound truth: none of these things will accompany us into the eternal kingdom.
When we stand before God, all that will matter are the souls we bring with us—the precious souls of our children, whom God entrusted to our care. Our homes, our money, our accomplishments, and our earthly treasures will all fall away like leaves in the autumn wind. But the souls we have nurtured, loved, and guided toward Him—those are the gifts that will last for eternity.
Imagine that moment, standing before God, and saying, “Lord, look at what I did with the souls You entrusted to me.” The soul of your child—molded by the love you poured out, by the example of your faith, by the prayers whispered in the night, and by the countless sacrifices offered in secret—is a precious offering to God.
God does not ask us to bring riches or accomplishments; He asks us to bring hearts. He asks us to teach our children to love Him, to seek His face, to understand His Word, and to walk in His ways. Each time we teach them to pray, each time we encourage them to trust in God’s mercy, each time we show them what it means to love sacrificially, we are participating in a divine mission.
Our children are not ours to keep; they are souls on loan, entrusted to us by the Creator Himself. The world may place value on what is seen—our homes, our wealth, our reputations—but God looks at what is unseen, what is eternal. He looks at the souls we have guided toward Him.
Reflection:
Spend some time today in prayer, asking God for the wisdom and grace to guide your children to Him. Ask for the strength to prioritize their spiritual formation above all else. Remember, the greatest legacy we can leave is not one of earthly wealth or achievements, but one of faith—a faith that lives on in the hearts of our children and points them toward eternity.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You have entrusted me with the souls of my children. Help me to be a faithful steward, guiding them with love and truth. May my words and actions always reflect Your light, leading them closer to You. When I stand before You, may I offer their souls as a testament to Your goodness and grace. Give me the strength, wisdom, and courage to fulfill this sacred duty. Amen.
